Good Friday Morning to You!

“Just read your column (Absentee voting, Oct. 19, 2022). My question for people who vote early is this: What happens if your candidate withdraws, is incapacitated or dies after you have sent in your vote? It happens. At the national or state level, you most likely would not vote for the other candidate anyway. But at the local level, where five people are running for two open seats, you just lost your ability to back someone else.” - Dan

Bingo. - Shane

“Your article got me thinking about all the political ads; all the mud and lies or at least half and twisted truths (Jammin’ Me, Oct. 20, 2022). What if we had an entire campaign cycle where the candidates could only talk about what they will do. They cannot mention, infer or give any reference to an opponent or to the other party. All they can talk about is their plans. Would I be wrong in thinking all the robocalls and TV ads would diminish since none of them actually have any plans? All they say is, “I won’t do what my opponent does” or “Here’s how my opponent voted.” Even when they do try and talk about their plan, they end up talking about the opponent. Is that too much to ask?” – Randy

Sounds appealing, but that darn free speech stuff gets in the way. - Shane

“Good morning. Take back Mike Lindell the ‘My Pillow’ guy and Mike Huckabee (Jammin’ Me, Oct. 20, 2022). Thanks for waking up my mind this and every weekday morning.” - John

Just don’t take back the My Pillow slippers. They are wonderful. - Shane

“Taco Trucks (Jammin’ Me, Oct. 20, 2022).” - Dave

Qué? – Shane

“Hi, Shane. I say, with a smile, The Daily Umbrella and Shane Goodman (Take back, Oct. 20, 2022).” - Steve

Agreed. – Shane

Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.

Meet Monica Dickinson

Teaching children faith by developing strong roots.

By Becky Kolosik

Monica Dickinson is a farm girl at heart. On the farm, she learned from her grandpa about tilling and nurturing the soil to develop strong roots.

Today, as a teacher at Strong Roots Christian School, Dickinson is ensuring her students not only develop strong roots in the classroom, but also in their spiritual walk.

Dickinson is the second oldest in a large family that includes both adopted and biological children.

“I am adopted, and I truly believe that is part of why I love people so much,” she says, smiling. “My family was always open to bringing anyone in, whether they needed a family for a little while or for life.”
