Matt Morris Elected to IBA Advocacy & Policy Committee
 

Matt Morris, CEO, Charter Bank was elected as a new officer for the Iowa Bankers Association's (IBA) Advocacy & Policy Committee. He will join the committee as Central Region Secretary in September. 

As Central Region Secretary, Matt will help the committee formulate and guide the IBA's legislative agenda and guide the industry's PACs (Political Action Committees). Specifically he will attend meetings; keep abreast of industry trends, developments, laws and regulations; support and guide the PACs and assist in meeting the groups' fundraising goals. He will also assist in research, development and passage of the legislative agenda and participate in and promote the IBA's grassroots events. 

Matt will serve a two-year term on this board before becoming Regional Chair where he'll serve two years as an IBA Board Member.

Ciara Halverson Completes Consumer Credit School
 

On March 4th, Ciara Halverson, Loan Officer for Charter Bank, completed the Iowa Bankers Association's Consumer Credit School along with 53 other Iowa bankers. Ciara is pictured in the very front, center of the photo. Congratulations Ciara!

Discounted Adventureland Tickets Now Available

Charter Bank is excited to offer discounted Advertureland tickets for the 2022 season courtesy of the Iowa Bankers Association. The IBA price per ticket is $49.99 plus taxes and fees, compared to the regular price admission of $69.99 plus tax. This year, Adventureland launched a new online ticket ordering site that offers the general public varying ticket prices depending on the day of the week and time of the season. Those tickets can only be used on the specific day for which they were purchased. Whereas, tickets purchased through the IBA purchase link can be used any day the park is open during the 2022 season.

Ben Hayes
 

Meet Ben Hayes, Universal Banker in Ankeny, who started at Charter Bank in September 2021.  

He grew up in Grand Island, NE but is very familiar with the Ankeny area because he often visited his grandparents, who lived in Ankeny, while growing up. He also attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny. This is Ben's first job in banking.

Read on to find out more about Ben.

1.) Family Members: I'm the oldest of six children. My grandparents used to live in Ankeny, and my dad was raised here.
2.) Interests: I enjoy pick-up sports and other games with friends, jogging, and reading.
3.) Many people don't know that: I traveled to Japan when I was in college. Our group was there for two weeks and helped teach ESL classes for grade schoolers and high schoolers.
4.) The best advice I ever got was: If you're afraid; face your fears. That's what makes you stronger.

Rick Mosher
 

Introducing Rick Mosher, our new Compliance Officer who started at Charter Bank on March 21, 2022. 

He is from Clarion, a small town in north central Iowa. While in college, he started his banking career in 1983, where he worked as a collector for a Des Moines corporate bank. Through out the years, he has held various levels of banking positions. After graduation, he continued to stay in central Iowa working for community banks and the FDIC before joining Charter Bank.

1.) Family Members: I have two adult children (one son and one daughter) and three granddaughters (7, 2, 9 months).
2.) Interests: I enjoy spending time with family and friends and taking road trips in my classic car. I also like the occasional round of golf, even though I am not very good at it.
3.) Many people don’t know that: I was born and raised a farm boy and the first in my family to go to college.
4.) The best advice I ever got was: Don’t forget to live life. This advice was from my grandmother that told me there is a lot to life; enjoy the journey.

Greg Grote Helps Break Ground
 

On March 24th, Greg Grote, President of Charter Bank, went out to support long-term Bank customer, Waukee United Methodist Church, one of Waukee’s longest tenured churches, as they broke ground on the construction of their new building. The church has been in the Waukee community for over 150 years! Greg is pictured second from left.

Johnston Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours
 

On April 7th, Charter Bank hosted a Business After Hours for the Johnston Chamber of Commerce. Charter Bank officers, staff and customers attended as well as members of the Johnston Chamber.
